This is one of those random survey things. Supposedly if you've seen 80 or more, you need to get a life.  I think you're uncultured if you've seen less than 80... (stolen from Vickie)

Here is my problem: I can't bring myself to forgive someone from my past.  My reasons for this are numerous.  Firstly, I was hurt very badly by her, and forgiveness would open me to being hurt again.  Secondly, along with the first reason, if I forgive her, it would be a sort of "Fool me once, shame on you.  Fool me twice, shame on me," deal.  She hurt me many times and I just kept going back for more each time.  Thirdly, I firmly believe that the furthest thing from love is not hate, but indifference.  I can't bring myself to be indifferent about where she is and what she's doing.  I know it shouldn't, but it matters to me.  Hating is far less painful than the alternative.  Finally, I don't expect forgiveness to reduce my personal suffering, and I've been out of the seminary too long to be that altruistic.

Based on this analysis, I'm stymied.  I don't want to keep carrying around this weight, but it's better than being hurt.  I know what I truly wish is to return to the innocence and oppenness that I once had.  However, after this experience, the real question is can I return to innocence or would it just be a sort of naivete modelled after the innocence that I desire?  Further, this intentional ignorance would be a step back.  I've learned something about the world.  While it's not positive, it is powerful, and I should hold onto that message.

I think I'm due one whiny post in a great while.  Also, this is why I don't listen to Dashboard Confessional anymore.  The QotD is: is it better to have loved and to have lost, or never to have loved before?  Peace.

Dear Xanga,

I'm sorry that I haven't been the loyal disciple that I ought to be.  I know that you have many more loyal subjects who visit you far more often.  Heck, the fact of the matter is that I don't have any explanation for my recent absence: I'm just a jerk.

I am finished with my GRE finally.  You know how worried I was about that.  It seems like that was all I was talking about for awhile.  I didn't do nearly as well as I had hoped.  Irony clearly is not lost on me as I miscounted the number of math problems I had left to do.  I ended up having to guess on the last five or so.  Kind of frustrating.  Then I didn't do as well as I thought I had on the verbal either.  Actually, I did okay on the verbal, but without a stellar math score to pull me up, it didn't mean much.

Anyway, I'm trying to move on from that.  I've had a good week here.  I have done very little school work, trying to regain the social life that I left behind.  I know that you, my Xanga, should be included in that.  That's why I'm writing you again, I suppose.

Alright, this has been real, but I need to get home and to bed.  Work keeps me up late on these tired Tuesday nights.  The QotD is: so, is you or is you ain't my baby?  Peace.

Here I am working the graveyard shift in the InfoCommons.  Just so you all know, tips are appreciated.  I mean, I'm staying up until 2am just to help you with your silly computer problems, the least you could do is grease the wheels of computer science a little bit.  Not that I'm complaining.  Siphoning $8 an hour out of St. Thomas is pretty sweet.  It's just not quite as sweet as walking home with my pockets jingle jangling from the quarters I've been forced to dance for all night.

Working here in the library does have it's advantages though.  I can keep current on the latest satirical drivel from collegehumor.com, scour ebay for incredible art purchases (there are none right now), and, of course, study.  Studying always seems to take a backseat to the first two, I've found.  It's hard to study with all the flashing lights and disco balls they have here in the library.  Actually, working in the library does not make it nearly as easy as it should be to study.  I'm constantly being asked questions to the point that concentration is futile, at best.  That's why these posts take me over an hour to actually complete.  Sighhhhhburns.

Anyhow, I should get back to work/homework.  The QotD is: do you have a plastic Jesus on the dashboard of your car?  Peace!
